Impacts

The primary target groups for DYNAMIX were EU- and national-level policy-makers directly involved in or preparing the design and implementation of resource use policies. The project aimed at strengthening their capacity to implement powerful resource efficiency policy options in practice. To this end, policy-makers, together with other stakeholders, were involved in a systematic participatory learning process throughout the duration of the project via four so-called DYNAMIX Policy Platforms. The four DYNAMIX Policy Platforms provided a regular forum for knowledge exchange and mutual learning. Policy-makers thus helped shaping the project’s design based on their needs, hence ensuring that DYNAMIX provides tangible support to EU policy-making for resource efficiency. Ultimately, the DYNAMIX project:

  • Provided decision makers with an analysis of the reasons for inadequacy of current policy mixes regarding resource efficiency.
  • Promoted the understanding of modelling and assessment exercises among policy-makers, including their underlying assumptions and limitations.
  • Helped EU policy-makers to choose the best policy mix for decoupling – taking into consideration real-world constraints such as consumer behaviour, legal and political feasibility, public acceptance, and uncertainty – leading to sustainable use and management of resources.

By providing tangible support towards the implementation of current EU policies and processes covering resource efficiency, DYNAMIX aimed at helping shorten the path towards a resource efficient economy.
